It took 75 years, but the University of Georgia Bulldogs took full advantage of their opportunity, to play the University of Oklahoma Sooners in the Rose Bowl. It took the Bulldogs two overtimes, but they were able to beat the Sooners and advance to the College Football National Championship game.

For most of the first half, Georgia looked unprepared for the dynamic offense of the Sooners. The Sooners’ passing attack was very effective against the Georgia defense.
The Sooners led by fourteen points by half-time. At the end of two quarters the score was 31-17.

Sooners star quarterback Baker Mayfield took advantage of the big stage he was on. He completed 23 out of 35 passes, passed for 235 yards, and completed two touchdown passes. Mayfield turned the ball over twice during the game.

One of those turnovers was a momentum shifting interception, which Mayfield threw late in the third quarter. That turnover led to a game-tying touchdown by Bulldog running back, Sony Michel.

Michel carried the ball 11 times, rushed for 181 yards, and scored three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs were able to run the ball very effectively against the Sooners defense. Defensively the Sooners had no answer for the two-headed rushing attack of the Bulldogs. Michel and running mate Nick Chubb were able to run through Sooner defenders and effectively seal the game for the Bulldogs.

It may have taken two overtimes, but the run game of the Bulldogs and turnovers effectively killed the Sooners. Georgia was able to control the game through their run game and stop the Sooners offense when necessary.

Now the Bulldogs head to the Championship game against the University of Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday, January 8th, 2018 at 8 pm EST.
