Hobby Lobby President Steve Green is proud to say that his Christian faith is the driving force behind the billion-dollar business. In an interview with Christian Headlines, Green shared that his love for God and the word of God help him lead the arts and craft company.

Founded in 1972 in Oklahoma City, Hobby Lobby now has more than 900 stores in 46 states with over 43,000 employees. The company hires people from different backgrounds, but Green’s faith is clearly shown through Hobby Lobby’s Christian corporate culture—shops are closed on Sundays to let employees be with their families, employees are given competitive minimum wages and health care benefits.

We want to honor God in all we do and by running our business by biblical principles. We believe that the Bible is a good guidebook for life. —Steve Green, Hobby Lobby President

“We want to honor God in all we do and by running our business by biblical principles. We believe that the Bible is a good guidebook for life,” said Green.

Green’s passion about the Bible led him and his family to build the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. He wanted a venue where people, regardless of religious beliefs, can access and engage with the Bible, according to Gospel Herald.

“As a visitor comes to this museum, we hope they’ll be inspired to engage with it [and] once they’ve left here, say, ‘I want learn more about this book that has, in essence, changed our world.'”

The Bible is the best-selling book in the world and Green wants to bring back the public’s interest in the word of God.

“Whatever faith a person is, we think that there would be an interest in them understanding the world they live in and how this book impacted their world,” he said.

The Christian mogul also authored four books: Faith in America (2011), The Bible in America (2013), This Dangerous Book (2017), and This Beautiful Book (2019). Commenting on his latest book, This Beautiful Book, Green said, “I wrote the book to help people understand the Bible.”

Green and his wife, Jackie, grew up in Christian families and are also active members of the church.
